HS PBIS & Knightly News

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a proactive systems approach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture needed for all students in a school to achieve social, emotional, and academic success.

Here at New Glarus, our mission is simple: Always Achieving, Always Growing.  With that in mind, our PBIS model is designed to teach students the right way to go about their daily routine the proper way or what we like to call, the "Knight Way."  Discipline is an important piece in PBIS.  However, discipline is a reactive approach to solving problems.  Through various methods, our goal is to educate our students in a proactive approach to limit the amount of negative occurrences in the classroom, hallways and after school activities.

Students can earn "Knight Kash" for demonstrating one of the five key areas of behavior we focus on called PRIDE.  It stands for Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Dedication, and Excellence.  Knight Kash can be spent at the school store and also gets put into a drawing at the end of each trimester where students have a chance to win prizes.  Another piece of our PBIS model is celebrating our successes.  At the end of each trimester, there will be celebrations to reward the students who demonstrated PRIDE throughout the year.  This helps to create a positive climate for students to learn and grow, while enjoying their experience in high school.
